Male striptease enters the TV screens. Streaming premiere on Disney+ in January.
In the upcoming true crime drama “Welcome to Chippendales”, we get to see the rise and (perhaps) fall of the entertainment industry that in the 70s and 80s became big among female viewers who wanted to see well-built, flexible, handsome and lightly dressed men perform on scene.
We get to follow mogul Steve Banarjee (Kumail Nanjiani) building his entertainment empire from scratch as an Indian-American immigrant in Los Angeles, into the sweet life of showbiz in a dark, criminal and reality-based journey. A journey that, based on the trailer, offers undressed men, shows, drugs and money.
“Welcome to Chippendales” was created by Robert Siegel (“Pam and Tommy”) and in the cast we also find Spencer Boldman (“Lab Rats”, 21 Jump Street”), Murray Bartlett (“The White Lotus”) and Juliette Lewis (“Yellowjackets”)
8 episodes premiere on Hulu already in November. The series will be released on Swedish Disney+ on January 11.
