WFI Chief Equates Vinesh Phogat With ‘Manthara’ And Himself With Donald Trump

WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh on Tuesday equated reputed wrestler Vinesh Phogat with Manthara, an infamous character from the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana. Brij Bhushan Singh, who is also a BJP MP from Kaiserganj, further claimed that support for the wrestling protesters is waning.

The WFI Chief has been accused by seven women sexually harassing them. The Delhi Police is investigating these allegations and has registered two separate cases. In one of the cases Brij Bhushan Singh has been booked under the POCSO Act as one of the complainants is a minor. Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and other top wrestlers have been leading the protest against him.

“The role that Manthara-Kaikeyi played in the Treta yug, similarly Vinesh Phogat is playing the role of Manthara for me,” Brij Bhushan Singh was quoted saying by PTI during a public meeting in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.

“The day the results are out, I will thank Manthara,” the BJP MP said referring to the ongoing investigation.

Manthara was the maid of queen Kaikeyi in the Hindu epic of Ramayana. She had convinced the queen, who was one of the wives of Ayodhya’s king Dhashrata, that her son Bharat should inherit the thrown and her step-son and prince Ram should be exiled from the kingdom.

Brij Bhushan also said that the thousands of wrestlers were staging protests against him but now only three husband-wife pairs are left. He claimed that there is no seventh person supporting them. Last month, farmers unions had extended their support to the protesting wrestlers and yesterday thousands of people had participated in a candle march from Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to India Gate. The march was organised to mark one month since they resumed their protest in April.

“I am saying this conspiracy is not of today. It has been going on for many days, but something good will happen through this. Only God knows how I am surviving,” Singh said.

“This is a case of good touch-bad touch. False allegations have been levelled on me. The God has made me a medium to fight against these allegations. This is because the God himself never appears. He makes someone a medium. In the same manner, the God has made me the medium to fight these allegations,” he asserted.
