Ukrainian man killed on Canggu shortcut after losing control of his motorbike: police

A Ukrainian citizen was found dead at the infamous Canggu shortcut this morning, police said, after he lost control of his motorbike and fell off a bridge.

North Kuta Police Chief Putu Diah Kurniawandari said in a statement sent to Coconuts Bali that the victim, 33-year-old Denys Rozanov, was found in the water underneath the bridge at approximately 8am. Police suspect that Rozanov hit his head against a concrete structure on the way down, which likely killed him.

Police identified the motorbike to be a rental from a store in Canggu.

“We evacuated the body from under the bridge,” Diah said.

Rozanov’s body was taken to Sanglah General Hospital. 

According to Diah, the victim suffered fatal cranial injuries and was believed to have been dead for four to five hours before his body was found. 

I Wayan Seloka, a spokesperson at the North Kuta Police told Coconuts Bali that Rozanov likely wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
