Thailand reintroduces entry rules for foreign travellers as China reopens borders

As per the latest development, Thailand is all set to reintroduce new entry regulations for international travellers, as China reopens borders to tourists. As per the country’s aviation regulator, international travellers will now be required to show proof they are fully vaccinated for Covid-19 before flying to Thailand.
Further, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) issued a statement on Saturday stating that starting early Monday, all foreign arrivals must prove they are vaccinated or provide a letter certifying that they have recovered from Covid-19 within six months.
Those not vaccinated will be required to show a medical certificate that explains why they have not yet received the vaccine.
Revealing more about the process, CAAT stated that it would be the responsibility of the airlines for checking documents before passengers board the plane, and has released a list of how many doses are required for various types of Covid-19 vaccines on its website. If reports are to go by, the new measure will remain in place at least until the end of January.
As reported earlier, Thailand scrapped the vaccination requirement last October, which has now been revived as China reopens its border following the easing of its zero-Covid policy.
The Health Ministry further added that foreigners travelling to Thailand from a country where a negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result is a condition for entry, will be required to show proof of health insurance that covers Covid-19 treatment.
Do note that the new entry requirements will not apply to Thai passport holders or passengers transiting through Thailand.
