The National Unity Government (NUG)
- U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations, pointed out that the military junta had created 15 crime zones 40km along the Thaungyin River, deceiving local people from 30 countries in the region and causing most cases of human trafficking.
- At 10:30 am Friday, there was a meeting via video conferencing between Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and Committee Representing Sagaing Hluttaw (CRSH).
- There was a meeting between Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Public Administration Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region. Reportedly, they discussed matters such as finance, electricity, transportation, taxation, defense, health, education, judiciary affairs, natural resources and environmental conservation.
Revolution Activities
- The Human Rights Watch (HRW) called for sanctions against the main financial sources of the junta army committing war crimes openly.
- Regarding the dropping of bomb in the territory of India during the junta’s air strike, Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee expressed their strong condemnation and called on the Indian government to take immediate action against Myanmar’s military junta.
- In Thayet and Mindone of Magwe Region, there were mine attacks on immigration offices under the military junta.
- In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, Paw Tun, a junta informer in Kadatchaung Village, and one of his fellows were killed on Friday night.
- In Thatone Township, local PDF conducted an attack using 40mm grenades on the junta army Regiment (1). Reportedly, the residence of officers was hit in the incident.
- In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, Aung Pu, the junta-appointed administrator of Ngatet-I Village, was shot dead at 7:30 pm Friday.
- In Ayadaw Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack via drone on the junta army at the gate of an industrial farm. According to Danger Force LPDF, 2 junta soldiers died.
- In Pale Township of Sagaing Region and Hakha Township of Chin State, 2 junta soldiers, together with weapons, joined the CDM. Reportedly, they were financially awarded.
- On Friday, a force in Nay Pyi Taw expressed their objection to the junta’s fake election. They also stated that they would regard the participants as public traitors.
Ethnic Armed Organizations
- In Hpapun District of Kayin State, the junta army conducted bombing via fighter jets on Laywa Village. According to Karen National Liberation Army-KNLA Brigade (5), 5 local people lost their lives in the incident, including a child aged 3 and two religious teachers.
- According to CDF Zophei, a soldier from the junta army Regiment (266) based in Hakha joined them on 6 January.
The Military Council
- According to the junta propaganda newspapers, there have been 7 attacks until 13 January while collecting household population data.
- The junta Ministry of Education issued the schedules for the year-end examinations of basic education schools in 2022-23 academic year.
- The junta media stated that a PDF camp had been controlled in the northeast of Thanbatgwin Village in Ngapudaw Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region.
- The military junta announced that the registration of mobile Sim Cards must be completed by 31 January 2023, which would be matched with the information from the Ministry of Immigration and Population. They also stated that the invalid ones would be banned.
- The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the military must provide healthcare services in remote areas.
- The junta leader claimed that they had provided more healthcare services for the public at the military hospitals and clinics to fulfill the gap of the health sector due to political conflicts.
- In Hsipaw, Lashio and Kyaukme of Shan North, the military junta were after CDM staff and young political activists in the second week of January. Reportedly, no less than 20 people were arrested.
- According to the junta Transportation Bureau, all the vehicles, except for passenger ones, would be extended in terms of their license without the vehicle check up to the end of March.
Summary on 14 January
- With prejudice, the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing has been chasing after CDM doctors and healthcare personnel. On the other hand, they claimed that the military doctors had been fulfilling the gap in the health sector.
- The international organizations called for action against the junta armed forces committing war crimes on a daily basis. Consequently, the military junta might have to face more hardships.
