A report on alleged interference in the early stages of the 2024 elections by the General Elections Commission (KPU) has roused fresh debate, with whistleblowers demanding lawmakers investigate findings that have implicated several public institutions.
A coalition of civil society groups came forward to the House of Representatives last week with a report alleging attempts to manipulate results of the “factual verification” process, which determines which political parties are eligible to field candidates in the 2024 legislative elections.
Three new parties were allowed to run despite reportedly failing to fulfill certain requirements for participating.
