Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Communication and Informatics Ministry’s competency development and training program Digital Talent Scholarship is featuring eight academies this year that will seek to build competent and superior digital talents.

“We aim to provide new personnel, workers, and talents to fill the void (for digitally savvy workers) in the industry,” Head of the Human Resource Research and Development Agency of the ministry Hary Budiarto said here on Tuesday.

The program is featuring eight academies: Fresh Graduate Academy, Vocational School Graduate Academy, Thematic Academy, Professional Academy, Government Transformation Academy, Digital Entrepreneurship Academy, Digital Leadership Academy, and Talent Scouting Academy, he informed.

The Fresh Graduate Academy (FGA) is catering to bachelor’s graduates who are not employed and working on improving their professional competence in science and technology.

Budiarto said that his agency is collaborating with employers to directly absorb participants who complete the FGA program for the industry.

The Vocational School Graduate Academy is covering the graduates of Vocational Senior High School (SMK)/equivalent educational institutions as well as the holders of Diploma 3 and 4 who are not yet employed.

Budiarto said that the program will prepare to build communication, information technology, and telecommunications competency in participants, in accordance with the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), so that workers can get professional certification.

The Thematic Academy is specifically targeting certain community groups, such as persons with disabilities and children, to improve their digital skills. Some of the trainings provided by the program include creating video content and coding for elementary and junior high school students.

Meanwhile, the Professional Academy is aiming to assist workers who wish to reskill so that they can work in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector as well as increase the competency of people who are currently working in the sector and allow them to hone their skills.

The Government Transformation Academy has been implemented to improve the competencies of civil servants in supporting the acceleration of digital transformation in public service.

Furthermore, the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy is providing training to members of the general public who want to become digital entrepreneurs, among others, on marketplaces, digital marketing, and the use of big data or artificial intelligence for product development.

The ministry is also implementing the Talent Scouting Academy to develop ICT competency among students by providing an opportunity for them to study outside the campus through online/offline training.

Lastly, the Digital Leadership Academy is being conducted to increase the capacity of leaders from the central government, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to support the acceleration of digital transformation in Indonesia.

The ministry official said that his agency is collaborating with eight international universities, including the National University of Singapore, Harvard University, and Oxford University, for implementing the Digital Leadership Academy.

“These (trainings) are free of charge. The community, students, or workers (who want to join the programs) just need to register and then we will select them. They can take part in this training online or offline,” he informed.

Budiarto said that a number of trainings in the Digital Talent Scholarship program will be opened starting February 1, 2023, on the digitalent.kominfo.go.id website.

On the occasion, he said that his agency is also providing masters scholarships on communications, information technology, and telecommunications, both at domestic and overseas universities, such as in Japan, the Netherlands, and Hungary.

He added that his agency is also striving to prepare national digital talents with the help of vocational education at various Multimedia High Schools (STMMs).
