One more victory would put the Las Vegas Aces in position to claim their first WNBA championship. Will they finally be able to claim victory over the Connecticut Sun and take the WNBA Finals in its entirety tonight? Or will the support of their fans at Mohegan Sun Arena help the Sun keep their series hopes alive?
The Aces, who were given the number one seed in the WNBA playoffs for this season, have put themselves in a position to celebrate tonight by maintaining their serve in both of their home games so far.
In the first game of the series, Connecticut battled back from an early deficit to take a lead of as many as eight points. Las Vegas jumped out to an early lead of 12 points. In the fourth quarter, scoring opportunities were scarce for both teams; however, the home team was able to hang on for a 67-64 victory, which gave them the upper hand.
Again getting out to an early lead in Game 2, the Aces went on a run of 13 points to 1 to give themselves a 12-point advantage early in the second quarter.
But in the match on Tuesday, they did not allow the Sun to make the same kind of comeback as they did in the first game. Although Connecticut got within three points of Las Vegas in the third quarter, this would be as close as they would get to the lead as Las Vegas cruised to an 85-71 victory.
