With the world’s attempted return to normalcy during a continuing pandemic and a legal matter in the way, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland‘s Verzuz has taken a hiatus. In an interview with REVOLT, however, Swizz announced that the platform will be making a comeback, but with some adjustments.

“We’ve been changing the infrastructure because when we started, it happened in the garage and then moved to a significant platform,” he said. “Now, we changed the whole way we’re moving but not entirely, so people won’t feel like it’s not the same.”

When it does return, he adds, fans will see “a fantastic lineup with people they wanted to see and even battles they think wouldn’t happen.”

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland launched Verzuz in 2020 while many were on lockdown due to the pandemic. The platform showcased battles between T-Pain and Lil JonLudacris and Nelly, and Erykah Badu and Jill Scott before being acquired by Triller.

The partnership allowed for bigger and live performances as lockdown had ended, and also promised equity to all artists who participated in the series. But in a lawsuit filed in mid-August, the mega producers claimed Triller had failed to make some payments.

Swizz and Timbaland have since reached a settlement with the social networking service.
