Powerball jackpot rises to $1 billion next week, as no one wins again

Written by on October 30, 2022

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Powerball jackpot keeps getting larger because players keep losing.

It happened again Saturday night as no one matched all six numbers and won the estimated $825 million grand prize. That means the next drawing Monday night will be for a massive $1 billion, according to a statement by Powerball.

The winning numbers Saturday night were: white balls 19, 31, 40, 46, 57 and the red power ball 23.

The increased jackpot will be the second-largest in U.S. history. The biggest prize was a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won by three ticketholders in 2016.

Although the advertised top prize will be an estimated $1 billion, that is for winners who receive their winnings through an annuity paid over 29 years. Winners almost always opt for cash, which for Monday’s drawing will be an estimated $497.3 million.

The $825 million jackpot for Saturday’s draw increased from $800 million on Friday as a result of strong ticket sales, Powerball said.

Players who missed out on the latest grand prize in the 30-year-old lottery shouldn’t immediately toss away their receipts.

A Florida ticket holder matched all five white balls in Saturday’s drawing and increased the prize to $2 million by including the game’s “Power Play” feature. Six tickets won a $1 million prize by matching five white balls, including two in California, two in Michigan, one in Maryland and one in Texas.

Another 17 tickets won a $150,000 prize while there were 80 winners of $50,000 each. More than 3.8 million tickets won cash prizes totaling above $38 million, Powerball said.

It has been nearly three months since anyone hit all six numbers and took the lottery’s top prize, with a $206.9 million jackpot win in Pennsylvania on Aug. 3. Thanks to Powerball’s long odds of one in 292.2 million, there have now been 37 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Powerball lottery jackpot increases to $1 billion

Who wants to be a billionaire?

No winning tickets were drawn for the massive Powerball jackpot worth $825 million on Saturday night.

Saturday’s winning numbers were 19, 31, 40, 46, 57, and Powerball 23.

The pot for Monday’s drawing increased to an estimated historic mark of $1 billion and a cash value of $497.3 million.

It would be one of the largest Powerball jackpots in the history of the game, second only to the $1.586 billion drawing in 2016, which is also a record for the largest jackpot in the lottery.

Although there were no grand prize winners, four tickets won $1 million after matching all five white numbers. Those tickets were sold in California, Texas, Maryland, and Michigan.

Another winning ticket worth $2 million was sold in Florida after matching the five white numbers and playing the Power Play feature.

Saturday evening’s drawing marked the 37th consecutive Powerball with no grand prize winner dating back to August 3 when a Pennsylvania ticket won the $206.9 million prize.

In all, there were 3.8 million tickets that won cash prizes totaling more than $38 million including 80 $50,000 winners and 17 tickets worth $150,000.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Wolverine FLL lottery club which claimed a $1.05 billion jackpot in March 2021. With their winnings, the group plans to give back to the community.

And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Warren last year went unclaimed. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.

Powerball jackpot hits $1 billion for Monday’s drawing

Nobody hit the jackpot on Saturday however, there was a $2 million winner and four $1 million winners

Nobody matched all the numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

That means Monday’s jackpot will be for $1 billion, according to Powerball.com.

The jackpot for a potential winner who takes the cash option, would be worth approximately $497.3 million.

Saturday’s jackpot had a grand prize of $825 million.

The numbers drawn were: 19, 31, 40, 46, 57 with a Powerball number of 23 and the Powerplay multiplier of 3x.

The payout has reached this level after 37 drawings in row with no grand prize winner.

There was one winner who matched five numbers and the Powerplay for a $2 million prize.

There were winners who matched five numbers worth $1 million in California, Maryland, Michigan and Texas.

The Powerball jackpot was previously won on Aug. 3, when a Pennsylvania ticket won a $206.9 million jackpot.

The Powerball holds the world record for the largest jackpot set in 2016, with $1.586 billion shared by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee.

In August 2021, Powerball added a third weekly drawing to help increase jackpots faster.

Powerball is played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

No one hit Powerball jackpot, new drawing now an estimated $1 billion

If a player wins Monday’s jackpot, it will be the second largest jackpot in Powerball history.

The Powerball jackpot reached an estimated $1 billion ($497.3 million cash) for the next drawing on Halloween.

According to lottery officials, this is the second time in Powerball history that the advertised jackpot has reached $1 billion.

If a player wins Monday’s jackpot, it will be the second largest jackpot in Powerball history.

The jackpot rolled after no one matched all six numbers drawn Saturday night – which were 19, 31, 40, 46, 57 and Powerball 23.

Six tickets, however, won a $1 million prize after matching all five white balls drawn. One ticket sold in Florida matched all five white balls and increased the prize to $2 million.
