Overview

Smoking is exhalation and inhalation of fumes by the burning of tobacco of cigars, pipes and cigarettes. Many of us are aware that smoking is detrimental for health; however almost all of us are not aware of the point that smoking contributes for several dental problems. Smoking cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, hookah water pipes and another form of tobacco intake leads to dental issues. Dentists should attempt tablets to stop bad breath educate their patients about the damage that smoking can cause to the dental health of theirs. The same as any other element of the body teeth & gums are extremely important and should be cared for thoroughly.

History

The growing of tobacco began in Central America around 6000 BC. The tobacco was put to use for chewing and smoking only in 1000 BC by the Mayan Civilization. They smoked and chewed the foliage of the tobacco plant; additionally they utilized it for curing wounds by implementing the mixture of tobacco with herbs. Once the Mayans migrated to other parts – north and South America – they also required tobacco plants with them for taking care in these areas.

Columbus was the first European to see tobacco leaves.
