Thousands of The Witcher Fans Want to Keep Henry Cavill as Geralt
Last weekend the striking news came out that Henry Cavill will stop with the series after the third season of The Witcher. From season four, Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt of Rivia. This news sparked mixed reactions. Some fans are so disappointed that they even started a petition.

There are a lot of rumors about why Henry Cavill is turning down the role of Geralt. It was announced a few days earlier that Cavill will play Superman again. He would also have wanted to stop with the Netflix series earlier: in season two he already had his doubts, because as a fan of the original books he did not agree with how the source material was handled. The writers of the series would hate the books and games.

Fans start petition to keep Henry Cavill
That second rumor is also what has led to a petition calling for Cavill to be kept employed and the writers replaced instead. “The reason The Witcher is such a popular series is because of the love the fans have for the books and games, which are hated and mocked by the writers and showrunner,” the petition reads. According to the petition, Cavill wanted to remain faithful to the world of Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the books, and would therefore have been replaced by Netflix.
At the time of writing, the petition has been signed more than 17,000 times. Netflix has not yet responded to the petition. Meanwhile, Liam Hemsworth is excited to take on the role of Geralt. In an Instagram post, he says he is inspired by Cavill and is excited to step into the world of The Witcher.
