The Netherlands is well represented in the next round of the Europa League. Ajax and PSV will compete in the eighth finals of the tournament and the opponents are now known.
It has been an exciting year in the Europa League. A large number of big names have ended up in the eighth finals of the tournament. Not only because they have qualified through the group stage, but also because some teams have been eliminated from the Champions League.
One of them is of course Ajax. The national champion did not perform well in the premier league of European football and was swept off the mat by Liverpool and Napoli. Ajax did manage to beat FC Rangers twice, which means it has qualified for the Europa League. There, the Amsterdam team has to compete against FC Union Berlin.

PSV has had a very different European season so far. The team from Eindhoven managed to take thirteen points in six games and cleverly beat Arsenal – at that time the number one in the Premier League. For the next round, PSV has to compete against Sevilla FC.
When are the Europa League matches?
We have to be patient for the eighth finals of the Europa League. The match between Ajax and Union Berlin is on February 16, with the return on February 23. PSV will play against Sevilla on the same days.
The reason for the long wait is the World Cup in Qatar. That controversial tournament is scheduled from November 20 to December 18, after which it’s time for the winter break.
