The Blacklist Reaches the End of the Line

Created by Jon Bokenkamp, The Blacklist initially premiered on NBC in September 2013. The show centers on Raymond “Red” Reddington (Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s James Spader), a former US Naval Intelligence officer and high-profile criminal who voluntarily surrenders to the FBI. Red possesses a “Blacklist” of the world’s most dangerous criminals, and informs the FBI’s efforts to capture them in exchange for immunity from prosecution. In addition to Spader, The Blacklist stars the likes of Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Hisham Tawfiq and Anya Banerjee. Past cast members include Megan Boone and Ryan Eggold. A spinoff series, The Blacklist: Redemption, aired on NBC for a single season in 2017. (The show also once got a tie-in comic book series courtesy of Titan.)

This past February, NBC announced that the original Blacklist would itself be coming to an end with its then-upcoming 10th season. “It isn’t often that a series resonates so deeply with an audience that it airs for 10 seasons, but The Blacklist proved to be a perfect combination of highly talented producers, stellar writing, a cast that never failed to deliver and a crew that always rose to the occasion,” Lisa Katz, NBCUniversal’s president of scripted content, said at the time. “A huge thank you to our partners at Sony, everyone from the past decade who made this show an integral part of NBC’s storied history and, of course, a special nod to James Spader, whose performance remains nothing short of spectacular.”
