The best series on SkyShowtime to enjoy
We had to wait a while, but the new streaming service SkyShowtime is finally available in the Netherlands. This one comes right away with a respectable amount of content. But which series should you watch first?
NBC Universal
The Office
When you think of legendary series, you might quickly think of dramas or detectives. But also a striking number of comedies have a name that rushes them forward. You can think of, for example, Seinfeld and Friends. In this century, The Office can call itself a legend and the series can be seen in its entirety on SkyShowtime.

Admittedly, The Office can also be seen elsewhere, but with SkyShowtime it is a lot more certain that the service will not lose the broadcasting rights. You can start a binge right now on Netflix or HBO Max, but you might end that binge on SkyShowtime.
Twin Peaks
If you like to watch series that might make you feel a little uncomfortable, you can hardly find better than Twin Peaks. With this series, David Lynch serves a special cocktail of a detective series, a surreal drama and a horror series. Twin Peaks had to gain much of its popularity after the series was canceled, but that popularity did return a third season in 2017.
Unfortunately, the Netherlands lacks a bit of easy ways to watch this series. At least that was the case. With the introduction of SkyShowtime you can stream all seasons as usual. There is of course something to be said for DVDs, but streaming is easier without all those discs.
Yellowstone
What you can expect from a family drama is unfortunately quite variable. For every fantastically thought-out series, there seems to be a series that gets bogged down in clichés. SkyShowtime offers you one of the better family dramas of recent years.
We are talking about Yellowstone, a series that revolves around the fortunes of the owners of Yellowstone Ranch, in the American National Park of the same name. Within the family there are the necessary problems, but not everything is easy with local residents either. This series has been running for a number of seasons now, but has only recently been shown in the Netherlands. If you want to stream it you have to be at SkyShowtime.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
SkyShowtime also brings with it some original series. We could talk about Halo right now, but sci-fi fans should do something else. Fortunately, there’s also the significantly better-received Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Strange New Worlds is one of the youngest Star Trek series, but it takes place quite early in the timeline, even before The Original Series. You can also see adventures of Spock, Captain Christopher Pike and Number One, while Kirk, for example, is nowhere to be seen on the Enterprise. Incidentally, nostalgic viewers can also see Star Trek: The Next Generation on SkyShowtime.
The Offer
“I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse,” says Don Corleone in The Godfather, one of the most legendary films ever made (also shown on SkyShowitme). The phrase has become a symbol of the unsavory way in which the mafia gets its way. But it was quite a hassle to get that sentence on screen.
That’s not because Marlon Brando couldn’t pronounce it. You can say what you want about Brando as a person, but he certainly could act. No, there was a group that would rather not have The Godfather made at all: the mafia. You can see in The Offer how they managed to make The Godfather despite the pressure from the Mafia.
