Based on High UP Entertainment‘s recently publicized 2022 financial report, netizens have found that the agency made a profit for the first time since STAYC’s debut just last year.

First, according to the agency’s 2021 financial report, the company recorded sales of 4,627,000,000 KRW, plus an operating profit of -1,363,000,000 KRW. The company then recorded a net profit of -1,645,000,000 KRW after adding on various miscellaneous costs.

According to the agency’s 2022 financial report, the company recorded sales of 10,217,000,000 KRW (~ $7.7 million USD), plus an operating profit of 1,250,000,000 KRW (~ $945,000 USD), and a net profit of 882 million KRW (~ $667,000 USD).

STAYC, who debuted in November of 2020 with their debut title track “So Bad“, quickly rose to fame with their 2021 mega-hit “ASAP“. However, despite the popularity of “ASAP” in 2021, the girl group failed to earn a profit that year due to the limitations placed on all offline promotions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, it seems that the girl group earned a profit for High UP Entertainment for the first time since debut in 2022 with songs like “Run2U” and “Beautiful Monster“.

Netizens reacted with comments like, “I thought they would have been paid already!”, “‘Teddy Bear’ also did really well this year so they should be earning more in 2023”, “Offline schedules like festivals return the most earnings to the artists”, “STAYC remind me so much of Apink”, “These days, the big agencies try to squash everything with money… but STAYC managed to survive and acquire a fandom. Hope they can keep it up”, “It’s crazy that a group as big as STAYC wouldn’t have been paid yet”, and more.

Meanwhile, it’s believed that the members of STAYC are preparing for a summer comeback some time in August.
