Kiefer Sutherland stars as an espionage expert framed for murder in Rabbit Hole.
Paramount+ has released the first trailer for Rabbit Hole, starring Kiefer Sutherland. The one-minute clip sees protagonist John Weir downing several drinks while telling an unseen person about his trouble sleeping. “I haven’t slept for a few days,” he says. I just got a bad feeling there may have been too many possibilities. I can’t tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not.”
Created for Paramount+ by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, Rabbit Hole is set to premiere on March 26, 2023, and run for eight episodes. The story follows John Weir (Kiefer Sutherland) who works as a corporate spy specializing in deception. But when a mysterious power with a global reach frames him for murdering a government official, Weir finds himself fighting to clear his name.
But nothing about the plot is as it seems. “Rabbit Hole is about a man who lies for a living and gets thrust into this battle of wits when he’s framed. Or it might be something else entirely,” Glenn Ficarra told Entertainment Weekly. Elaborating on the Kiefer Sutherland show, he said the series focuses on manipulation and disinformation to make viewers question their everyday reality.
The series also emphasizes trust. John Requa says that aspect of the story was inspired by popular conspiracy thrillers from the 1970s like Three Days of the Condor. “It’s about people who can’t trust, people trying to find trust, trying to figure out what trust is,” he said, explaining the essence of the Kiefer Sutherland series.
Paramount+ ordered the espionage drama series in May 2021, with its title announced in February of the following year. Along with Kiefer Sutherland, the series stars Rob Yang as Edward Homm, Charles Dance as Dr. Ben Wilson, and Meta Golding as Hailey Winton. Enid Graham appears as Josephine Madi, Jason Butler Harner as Valence, Walt Klink as The Intern, and Ishan Davé as Hafiz.
Wendy Makkena and Mark Winnick round out the cast as Debra and Young Crowley, respectively. Production on the Kiefer Sutherland show began in Ontario in May 2022, with filming primarily taking place in Toronto. Additional scenes were shot in Hamilton. Besides Rabbit Hole, the 56-year-old actor is also set to star in They Cloned Tyrone.
Billed as a science fiction comedy mystery, the movie is directed by Juel Taylor from a screenplay by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier. The story chronicles a series of eerie events that throws an unlikely trio onto the trail of a dangerous government conspiracy. The movie stars John Boyega as Fontaine, Teyonah Parris as Yo-Yo, and Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles. Kiefer Sutherland’s role is currently undisclosed.
They Cloned Tyrone is scheduled for release by Netflix on July 21, 2023. When he’s not acting, Kiefer Sutherland can be found working on new music. In 2022, the 24 alum completed an album called Bloor Street. Speaking to CTV News at the time, he described the record as a nostalgic compilation. The songs are dedicated to his home city of Toronto and the street where he grew up.
“My first job was at a little restaurant in the food court in The Bay,” Kiefer Sutherland told the publication. “My first kiss with a girl was in front of the Bloor Street subway.” The actor and musician also sand on the street corner with just a guitar.
