WWelcome to Screenshot Sunday, the weekly post where we discuss games through beautiful, crazy or interesting screenshots. You might even score a new wallpaper. Participate? Post a screenshot in the comments or send it in via this Google Form.

A little earlier than usual, but I’ll probably be gone for a good part of the day and maybe it’ll be late, although that’s not certain. Just to be sure, I wanted to have today’s post posted well in time. If you want to send something later in the day, just do it, and it will be sent next week. Anyway, I have nothing to complain about this week. Everything has come in again. Let’s go!

Rainking

Sometimes you need a little rest in your life. You can of course slump in the garden or sit on your balcony, with or without a drink and some nice music. But of course you can also do Donut County to play. In it you control, I swear I have not drunk (too much), a hole in the ground. The aim is to make all the objects on the screen disappear into it. It’s only a small hole at first, but with each item that falls into it, it grows a little, allowing another slightly larger item to pass through. There’s a little more to it later in the game, but for the first few levels it’s just a matter of making objects disappear. Why? Because it’s possible!

Aaaaaaaaaaand it’s gone…

Thanks…I guess…

Oh no, huh! Where’s my tinfoil hat gone?

Do not lie. You do this too.

Plothole!

“We now interrupt this program…”

After I played the opening of . with each character last week Gotham Knights played, it was time to send Batgirl into the wide world of Gotham City. That went well until I encountered this during the next mission.

What? A Soder Cola easter egg!? For those who have no idea, Soder Cola is in the DC comics what Coca Cola is to us. Does that mean there is also a Pepsi? Yup, Zesti! I stopped playing the game after that mission and started exploring the city, looking for easter eggs, because as a DC fan I might recognize even more. And boy, did I! At one point I found the Soder Cola factory.

I also really like that names from outside the Batman world are mentioned.

The most famous fast food chain in the DC universe. Apparently the burgers are belly, belly good.

I’ve had mine for about eleven years now.

get it!?

That bald man knows how to pop up everywhere.

I know someone whose name rhymes with this, but whether you really want to have your back treated…?

If you scan this QR code, you will get an error message. As far as I understand, this links to a competition in America and Canada, from which we are excluded.

And finally a few companies.

Also I’m still working on A Plague Tale: Innocence. Yup, the first game. I’m about three-quarters now, I think, so I’m kind of getting there.

coola

This time he does not come with a first or third person action game, but with a modern classic.

“I’m back in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age mode so here are some DQ XI screenies.”

Dragon Quest XI proved to me that turn-based isn’t dead yet. I jokingly call it the best Final Fantasy since Dragon Quest VIII, as I feel that the series treats its fans more respectfully.

“Boot to the head!”

“And I know this isn’t technically a screenshot but it’s game related and I admit I just want to show it off.”

Not a screenshot, but a neck shot! Wait, that’s not right… Looking good, man!

Lavalera

“Hopefully more variety next week,” he said last week. Well, it came!

“The latest screenshots of A Plague Tale: Requiem and Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch Remastered. A Plague Tale is not only a very nice game it is also one of the best games this year. If you like games like The Last of Us, Uncharted etc then you are going to enjoy this.”

“Ni No Kuni is especially beautiful. The game itself is fine but a bit on the grindy side even for a JRPG.”

So long, Ni No Kuni. We hardly knew ye.

“The next game is Star Ocean: The Divine Force, which is part 6 in the series but since they are all stand alone it doesn’t matter where you start. Graphically it’s not the most beautiful game, but the gameplay feels a lot like Tales of Arise. 1 of the 2 main characters Raymond looks a bit like David Lee Roth (the lead singer of Van Halen), the other is Princess Laeticia. If you’re wondering what that robot thing is, that’s Dumas. Some kind of robot helper. That ensures that you can quickly dash through landscapes and you can also use it in combat as long as you have energy.”

I had downloaded the demo of this… end of sentence.

So then! You didn’t lie, tell me. I suddenly feel the urge to jump.

Where’s Kevin Bacon when you need him?

And as icing on the cake Persona 5 Royal. My first acquaintance with an Atlus game. Unique artstyle and perhaps one of the best soundtracks ever. In the game, you can capture persona that represents personalities that you can then use in battle.”

That soundtrack is definitely good. I’ve started it a few times, but never got very far. Hopefully you have more success.

And that was it for number 78. Going to the retro game fair in Hengelo soon. Always exciting to find something. The great thing is that it might be nice Screenshot Sunday material. Where to send your photos. Through the comments. Or the Google Form. Thanks in advance and see you next!

Did you know…?

That there’s a Dragon Quest cafe in Tokyo?

Addendum: Retro game fair, Hengelo

Hi, I was there for a while. As you probably know, I was at the above fair today and my original idea was to write a short report about it. It didn’t quite turn out that way.

It took forever before I had my first purchases in the bag. Everything was very cramped together, so there was little walking space. To be honest, I didn’t really feel like taking pictures of it because of those two things.

It wasn’t until just before we left that I managed to stock up on a few things. Because of the crowds and the heat, I felt more like leaving. Afterwards I could have taken some pictures, because it was already a bit quieter. Well, it’s no different.

Anyway, it was fun again with my road trip buddy. I also finally met two guys that I only knew online for a few years. Cool guys, both. I could talk nicely. I also saw one of the presenters of YouTube channel Video Game Inside walking in the distance, but I didn’t ask him for an autograph, hahaha. Neither does he me…

What did I pick up? Mainly stuff I can’t play. Four of the six games are in fact Japanese and are therefore more for you. In the case of Steamboy and 3 X 3 Eyes because I liked the anime. I already have the European version of The Legend Of Dragoon and this Japanese version just seemed nice to have with me. The cover of Phantasy Star Portable just looked beautiful to me. That + low price = here with it! Final Fantasy XII is American and I could play it on my American PlayStation 2, but I picked it up more for my Square Enix collection. The only European game I bought is Dragon’s Lair 3D: Return To The Lair eeeeeeeeennn….. when I got home I found that I already had it for the PlayStation 2. Whoops!
