‘Replacement Henry Cavill was already considered for The Witcher’
Fans of The Witcher were taken aback last week by the news that Henry Cavill has been replaced in Netflix’s The Witcher. Liam Hemsworth will be his replacement in Season 4. Now it turns out that Hemsworth was already being considered in 2018.

The news that Henry Cavill is stepping down as Geralt of Rivia and being replaced by Liam Hemsworth has upset many fans. Many viewers really enjoy Cavill’s version of Geralt. It was only close that Hemsworth had always been the protagonist of The Witcher.

According to Redanian Intelligence, a site exclusively dedicated to the Netflix series of The Witcher, Liam Hemsworth was high on the list to land the role of Geralt. It is unknown if he was second-choice after Henry Cavill, but he was high on the list of candidates. The search for a replacement for Cavill was therefore quite easy.

The search for a new Geralt would have started last summer. But instead of setting up a whole new audition process, the producers went back to the 2018 audition tapes. Soon Hemsworth would have rolled out again as a favorite and this time he got the part.
Fans not happy with Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher
Regardless of whether Hemsworth is a good Geralt, fans are not happy about the change. There is even a petition to replace not Henry Cavill, but the writers (who allegedly hate The Witcher). In all likelihood, this petition doesn’t stand a chance.
