Pokémon developer seems to be hinting at Switch 2
It won’t be long before Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are coming to Nintendo Switch. Quite a few Pokémon games have appeared for Nintendo’s current console, but it seems that the focus is slowly starting to shift to another system. A vacancy for a Pokémon developer speaks of next-gen hardware.
A job posting from Creatures, one of the developers and co-owners of the Pokémon franchise, seems to suggest the Switch 2 is on the way. We are looking for a 3D character modeler for new titles. Whoever will fill this position must also develop for “next-generation hardware”.

There is, of course, no direct talk of a Switch Pro, Switch 2 or any other future Nintendo consoles. Still, it seems plausible that developers are slowly but surely taking into account a new Nintendo console. The Switch is almost six years old and Nintendo’s estimate has always been that it could last about seven years with the console.

A successor is in all likelihood already in development, which would also mean that game developers are slowly but surely getting started with games intended for the next Nintendo console. The average Pokémon generation lasts three years, so the big successor to Scarlet and Violet will probably indeed be for a new system.
When is the Nintendo Switch 2 coming?
Nintendo has so far not said much about a possible Switch 2, if the successor to the Switch is already called that. No new console has been revealed, and following up on the Switch’s success would even be a bit of a headache for the company. When a possible Switch 2 should appear is currently still a pure guess.
