Paul Walter Hauser Just Got His Golden Globe Award Stolen
Written by on January 16, 2023
Paul Walter Hauser appeared on a segment for AEW Rampage and had his Golden Globe stolen by wrestlers.
Paul Walter Hauser was just trying to share his Golden Globe victory with his friends at AEW Rampage when it was cruelly (and fictitiously) stolen from him by All Elite Wrestling stars Sonjay Dutt, Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, and WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. As reported by Slashfilm, the foursome smashed him over the head with a guitar and took his award in the resulting chaos before later making their own award speech.
You can see the entire segment below:
While professional wrestling is fake (sorry, Dad), Paul Walter Hauser’s Golden Globe award is very real. He won the category of Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/Anthology for his role in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird.
The crime drama miniseries is based on a novel titled In with the Devil: a Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene and Hillel Levin, which is, in turn, based on true events. Paul Walter Hauser’s Golden Globe-winning role was that of Lawrence “Larry” Hall, a serial killer who is said to have murdered 14 women.
Paul Walter Hauser has been a fan of pro wrestling his entire life and also appeared in I Think You Should Leave with AEW’s Brody King. He even used the phrase “get the tables” in his Golden Globe acceptance speech. So, it makes sense that he would have been excited to appear on AEW Rampage.
Unfortunately, though, he was doomed from the moment he stepped into the ring to speak to interviewer Renee Paquette. Even though he says he is even more passionate about professional wrestling than he is about making television, he is soon interrupted by the villainous gang of wrestlers.
Paul Walter Hauser stands up for himself though, telling Jeff Jarrett that he “looks like a woman who owns a Crunch Fitness” and that he probably can’t even play his own guitar, even though he brings it everywhere with him. He then gets in a punch of his own before the fighting starts but goes down quickly when Jarrett smashes his guitar over the Golden Globe winner’s head.
Jay Lethal then picks up Paul Walter Hauser’s Golden Globe and marvels over it for a moment before Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends come to save the day. Jarrett and his cronies escape with the award, though, posing with it for the cameras before heading backstage.
Before they leave the building, they give their own speech, with Sonjay Dutt calling the four villains the “greatest professional wrestlers alive today.” They then made it clear that Paul Walter Hauser won’t be getting that Golden Globe back any time soon.
Slashfilm goes on to say that no medical update has been given on Paul Walter Hauser since his Golden Globe was stolen, but this will likely never happen, as all of this was just a sketch made for television.
Still, though, maybe Paul Walter Hauser’s co-star from Cobra Kai can come in and use his karate moves to get the Golden Globe back for his buddy? I guess we will all have to wait for the next episode of AEW Rampage to find out.
