Owing to these restrictions, a large number
Written by ABC AUDIO on December 8, 2022
It is stated that there will be no age limit restriction for Hajj 2023. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Saudi government affirmed age restrictions which imposed an age limit of 65 years to perform Hajj. According to this restraint in 2022 people under 65 years of age, with negative PCR tests, and obtaining the basic dose of vaccines approved by KSA were allowed to perform Hajj.
Due to the cancellation of Hajj in 2020 and 2021 and the age limit restrictions the waiting list of pilgrims was doubled. Owing to these restrictions, a large number of pilgrims were unable to perform Hajj. This meant that the waiting list of 20 years has extended to 40 years and that of 30 years has been extended to 60 years.
This leads to the uplift of Hajj 2023 restrictions and relieves as many pilgrims as possible.
To implement the conditions regarding the offering of Hajj in 1443 H/2023 the Indonesian Hajj Affairs and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of KSA held a meeting together. In the meeting, they discuss a plan for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage in 2023.
Abolition of age limit for Hajj 2020
The Saudi Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah has announced abolishing the age limit for Hajj 2020, which was originally implied due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The condition age limit was applied to Muslims from all countries. And now the abolition of the age limit is also pragmatic for all countries.
Along with that, the number of pilgrims will also increase in 2023 because the government of Saudi Arabia has also increased the number of quotas for international pilgrims. As he stated in front of the Indonesian Hajj Media Center that God willing, when the pandemic is over, all will be back to usual.
