ABOUT Metamorphosis Literary Agency

Stephanie Hansen – Owner, Senior Agent, and Subsidiary Rights Manager

Stephanie represents authors with their debut novels and New York Times-bestsellers and has brokered deals with small presses, mid-size publishers, major publishing houses, foreign publishers, audio producers, gaming app companies, reading app companies, and film producers. She holds a master’s degree with a Creative Writing Specialization. She represents everything fiction from children’s to adult books. She’s also seeking non-fiction projects with heart. Previously editorial for Mind’s Eye Literary Magazine and consulting with Hollywood book & film agent Michele Wallerstein, she joined Metamorphosis July 2016. Originally looking to help Midwest authors in “flyover states” to garner the attention of major publishing houses, she found camaraderie with multiple agents and editors. Covid has her missing coffees and lunches with publishers & major house editors and trips to NYC. Stephanie is unilaterally deaf with 90 dB tinnitus and hearing loss as well as nerve damage on the other side. She’s dedicated to elevating voices that often go unheard. Amy Brewer – Senior Agent & Subsidiary Rights Assistant Manager

Amy Brewer wears many hats everyday, from literary agent at Metamorphosis, to co-author of the Texting Prince Charming series, to social media manager, to yoga teacher. She graduated from Culver-Stockton College with a theater degree because drama, romance, and angst are lifelong passions. Her intuitive human understanding can help other writers bridge the communication gap and jump into the publishing world. For the last few years, she has been learning all she can about social media optimization and platform building in the publishing industry. Amy’s experience in the mental health field and yoga training help her guide and assist clients with stress and anxiety in this highly competitive industry. She pulls all of this together with a multi-tasking, hyper-organized brain, so that at the end of every day, she feels accomplished and grateful.

Erica Christensen – Senior Agent & Subsidiary Rights Assistant Manager

Erica Christensen has been in the publishing industry since 2014, holding various positions. She was born and raised in the Heartland of America and now resides near the beautiful Emerald Coast with her family of five and her sassy, spunky lab-pit mix named Kali. She is seeking: Contemporary YA and Adult Romance ranging from Sweet to Erotic. Inclusive manuscripts from #OwnVoices authors are welcomed and strongly encouraged! Erica is not a fit for Paranormal Romance, Historical Romance or Historical Fiction, Fantasy, or Science Fiction.

Jessica Reino – Senior Agent & Subsidiary Rights Assistant

Working for many years as a freelance substantive editor and being a multi-genre author herself, it is no surprise that Jessica has a wide variety of tastes when it comes to storytelling. She’s a member of SCBWI New England, The Women’s Fiction Writers Association where she was a Webinar Program Leader, and The Editorial Freelancers Association. She has also been a contributor for The Children’s Writer’s Guild Online Magazine as well as a reviewer for Story Monsters Ink. She has experience as an author coach and freelance editor with Pandamoon Publishing. She also runs a monthly Twitter chat #thewriterszen. Whether the story is tackling tough topics, or serves solely to entertain, Jessica is looking for manuscripts that are well-written with a strong voice in order to make that emotional connection. Jessica is seeking MG, YA, Adult and nonfiction projects.

Katie Salvo – Senior Agent

A traditionally published novelist and avid reader with eclectic genre interests, Katie Salvo loves nothing more than to see authors succeed in introducing new ideas and fresh voices to the publishing industry. With a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Katie has a background in literary criticism, philosophy, political theory, and history. She is legally blind and dedicated to shining a light on voices that often go unseen. She is particularly interested in representing women’s fiction, romance, children’s books, middle grade, young adult, LGBTQ+, and historical biography. Katie is not a good fit for Fantasy, Science Fiction, Paranormal, Dystopian, or Dark Fiction.

Caroline Trussell – Junior Agent

Caroline has a background in editing, writing, and communications and has worked as an agent assistant, editorial assistant, journalist, and communications consultant. She is passionate about finding writers with unique voices and points of view and is looking for steamy romances, out of this world fantasies, and YA and MG that touch on vital topics that can’t be ignored. She’s also a self-published young adult author, a Columbia Publishing Course graduate, and a mental health advocate.

Haley Casey – Literary Intern – Success Story

Haley has always had a special place in her heart for stories, but it was when she wrote her first chapter book in fifth grade that her true love of literature was realized. In 2015, she graduated from The University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing, and that fall, she attended the Denver Publishing Institute. She began her career at Ogden Publications, where she worked for four years as an editor, and now she’s focusing her career on book publishing. Haley

devours YA, fantasy, and #OwnVoices fiction, but romance is her guilty pleasure. NOW WITH: Creative Media Agency and has closed two deals with Familius & one with Running Press Kids.

Morgan Noble – Literary Intern – Success Story

Morgan has dreamed of working with authors since she was fourteen years old. She pursued her dream and earned her B.A. in English and History from Texas Tech University. She then spent time interning at two literary agencies before returning to Texas Tech and earning her M.A. in English. After a year away from the publishing world, Morgan is excited to return and join Metamorphosis Literary Agency as an intern. NOW WITH: Pippin Properties

Jean Li Spencer – Literary Intern – SUCCESS STORY

Jean Li is a candidate for a BA in English (with honors) and Education Studies from Wellesley College. She is the Editor in Chief of GenerAsians, a cultural magazine for AAPI+ interests at Wellesley. As a once aspiring middle school teacher, Jean Li enjoys volunteering her time reading with children and learning more about how literacy education can be more holistic and liberatory. She is looking for women’s fiction, thrillers, picture books, MG and YA, and mysteries (she is on the hunt for the next great feminist ghost story). Jean Li is joining the Metamorphosis Literary Agency as an intern before moving back to her hometown of New York City and working in publishing. NOW WITH Little, Brown Books for Young Readers as an Editorial Assistant reporting to Megan Tingley and Deirdre Jones

Huang Chen – Literary Intern

Huang Chen was raised in China and came to America during high school. She received a B.F.A. in Economics from Clark University. Since then, Huang has spent over three years working in a local high school as a paraprofessional. She’s currently pursuing an M.L.A. in creative writing from Harvard Extension School. Huang is interested in MG, Fantasy, Mystery, and Magic Realism fiction. Her most recent favorite author is Kate DiCamillo.

Shania Soler – Literary Intern

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Shania has been an avid book lover from the moment she picked up Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy. Ever since then, her TBR pile has steadily grown. Currently working on an MA at the University of Leeds, she has received her Bachelor’s of Arts in English from the University of Maine and plans to pursue a PhD in Japan, where she spent 7 months during her undergrad studying the language and culture. When not reading, she can be found lounging with her cat, Marlow, or studying for her degree.

Alana Scherer – Literary Intern

Alana Scherer is pursuing a degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa. She has been reading her whole life and has no intention of stopping any time soon. Her favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but her (very cramped) book shelves contain a little bit of everything

Cassie Steenbock – Literary Intern

I’m Cassie, and a few of my favorite things are new books, travel, my husband, and if you put me on a beach with both books AND my husband, I’m the happiest you’ll ever see me. My love for books started as a young child when my grandparents bought me the first four books in the Harry Potter series. From there I would read anything I could possibly get my hands on. I mostly stuck to romcoms and chick-lit but have more recently branched out and am reading all genres, and discovered my love for all things historical fiction, magical realism, and psychological thrillers. My favorite authors at the moment are Kristin Hannah and Taylor Jenkins Reid, and I would truly read their grocery lists if they would let me. My goals for the industry are to become an agent or an editor, both are truly a dream job for me!

Shanna Furey – Literary Intern

It was uncommon growing up to find Shanna without her nose in a book. An avid reader from a

young age, she began to get lost in the lives of historical figures long gone, which aided her love

of history and pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in History at Southern Illinois University at

Edwardsville. Shanna currently lives in Colorado with her spouse and their two very cuddly

cats. In her spare time she enjoys cozy gaming, knitting, and watching movies. She loves a good Historical Fiction or Nonfiction read, but is also a sucker for anything Mystery, Fantasy, Comedic, or Romance.
