Exit: Kathryn Dennis confirmed this week that she will not be coming back to Southern Charm for the Bravo reality show’s ninth season
‘Can you believe I was 21 when I first started filming Southern Charm, back in its first season? That was in 2013, and in the decade that followed, it’s safe to say my life changed in ways I could never imagine,’ she shared in her statement.
‘It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m so lucky to have had reality cameras there, capturing so many moments that I’ll never forget (and a few, even, that I’d like to).’
Kathryn reflected that her reality TV fans saw her ‘grow up’ and ‘become a mom to two amazing children’ while making friends she can ‘always treasure’ in future.
‘And through it all, the love y’all have shown for me not only gave me the strength I needed to tackle it all, but helped me realize that I wasn’t alone. I’m so grateful.’

Previously, insiders told RadarOnline that she was not offered a new contract or possibly even made the decision to pass on the next season.

If Kathryn has indeed moved on from the show it comes a year after more major life changes.
Back in November 2021, she and Chleb Ravenell went their ‘separate ways’ as a season eight episode of Southern Charm which aired in July showcased the disintegration of their romance.
The two were ultimately driven apart by Kathryn’s custody battle with her ex Thomas Ravenel, though they both had different interpretations for why the relationship didn’t work out.
Following a disagreement featured in the previous episode, Kathryn tried to turn the temperature down by cooking a meal for Chleb and inviting him over for dinner.
Tense time: Back in November 2021, she and Chleb Ravenell went their ‘separate ways’ as a season eight episode of Southern Charm which aired in July showcased the disintegration of their romance
‘I thought Chleb was going to be my forever person, but now it’s like, I don’t know,’ she said in a confessional interview. ‘I feel like he has one foot in, one foot out.’
However, her boyfriend confessed his love and told her that he wanted to return to her.
‘I’ve got a lot going on and I feel like you lack empathy for what I’m going through,’ Kathryn said, referencing her ongoing custody issues with her ex Thomas.
Chleb responded by claiming that she didn’t show as much concern for him as he did for her.
‘You don’t care about my feelings,’ he said, though he seemed to still want to work through their issues. ‘Honestly, I’m trying to make it work.’
Difference of opinion: Both parties seemed to agree Kathryn’s custody fight with Thomas (pictured) was a catalyst for the split, though they had different interpretations
Too soon? Kathryn claimed that Chleb was ’emotionally unavailable,’ but he claimed she ‘threw straight at me’ after three months
Kathryn went further by saying she wasn’t sure that the relationship could survive their differences.
‘Over the past several days, I’ve just thought a lot about what I need and what I have not been getting in this relationship,’ she said, adding that she though Chleb was ’emotionally unavailable.’
‘I’ve been in relationships with emotionally unavailable people, and I haven’t seen you taking the steps to fulfill the role that I would like someone to fill,’ she continued.
But Chleb claimed it was her custody battle with Thomas that pushed him away from her. Kathryn and Thomas share their eight-year-old daughter Kensington and six-year-old son St. Julien.
‘I didn’t know what I was getting into before dating you,’ Chleb said. ‘Like three months into our relationship, you threw the kids straight on me.’
Kathryn suggested that Chleb might not even be in the mindset for a relationship if he couldn’t handle her family, before suggesting that they end things for good.
Sad parting: Chleb stormed out of their house and packed his things while Kathryn was left in tears
‘I can’t keep trying if I don’t feel like you’re trying,’ she continued. ‘I never pictured what the moment would be like when we really like went our separate ways, but I really think that’s the best thing for you and for me.’
Kathryn was overwhelmed with tears, and Chleb cursed before packing up some of this things and leaving.
Back in November 2021, a source told Us Weekly that the former couple didn’t have any hard feelings for each other.
‘Her future husband would have to be this amazing stepfather to her children and be someone who would make a serious commitment to her, and [Chleb] just wasn’t that,’ the source said, echoing their tense discussion on Southern Charm.
‘They weren’t meant to be and even friends of hers picked up on it. She has so much love in her life as is with her little kiddos,’ the insider continued.
The couple first began dating in July 2020.
