Elsewhere on day four at Roland Garros, world No.3 Jessica Pegula eased into the next round in the early session on Court Philippe Chatrier after her Italian opponent Camila Giorgi was forced to retire injured in the second set.

It was a dismal day, though, for the male Americans in Paris, with Sebastian Korda falling in straight sets to Sebastian Ofner.
