The Flash trailer confirms return of another DC character

The Flash‘s new trailer has revealed a sneak peek at more scenes from the upcoming blockbuster — and another returning character.
Seconds into what DC has called the final trailer, which you can watch above, those familiar with the DC Universe will recognise another legacy Batman actor.
That voice belongs to none other than Jeremy Irons, who’s reprising his role as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler.

As fans will likely already know, Irons played the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
That’s not the only cameo fans can expect, though. The initial two trailers confirmed that Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will both be appearing in the movie as Batman – well, versions of him at least – while Sasha Calle will make her debut as Supergirl.
Viewers also know Michael Shannon will return as Man of Steel’s General Zod, and director Andy Muschetti recently confirmed that Nicolas Cage has filmed a cameo, too.
The Flash touches on the famous comic book storyline of Flashpoint and sees Ezra Miller’s Flash change the course of history as he goes back in time to save his mum from being killed.

This paradox introduces him to a version of himself and the multiverse, so it’s certainly a possibility more characters from other DC films could potentially make some cameos too. But it looks like we’ll have to watch to find out.
The Flash opens in cinemas next month and has received encouraging initial reactions. However, its path to the screen has not been without controversy.
Lead actor Ezra Miller has faced multiple legal issues, including pleading no contest to disorderly conduct and facing assault charges stemming from separate incidents.
Miller released a statement in August 2022 saying they had “gone through a time of intense crisis”, adding that they “want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
The Flash is released in cinemas on June 16.
