Star Wars’ Mark Hamill addresses Return of the Jedi error
Written by on June 2, 2023
Star Wars legend Mark Hamill has addressed an error involving his character Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi.
A franchise fan account on Twitter noted a moment in the Sarlacc pit fight sequence where Luke kicks an enemy off a vehicle – though on closer inspection, it’s clear that he doesn’t quite hit his target, despite the baddie falling off.
However, Hamill has taken it all in jest, replying to the post: “How could anyone possibly be bothered by my widely celebrated, perfectly executed Force-Kick?!”.
Fair point.

Elsewhere, last week Hamill addressed his future as Luke in the Star Wars franchise following his appearances in the sequel trilogy and his de-aged scenes in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
“When I read [Episode] VIII, I knew it was over,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “So I was relishing every moment, but also saying goodbye to all those people that I had associated with over the years. So I still miss them.”

Touching upon a possible appearance in the planned Rey movie, Hamill added: “No, I don’t have any expectations of that happening.”
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has also touched upon a possible Luke return, suggesting that it is not on the cards as things stand.
“I don’t know if we’ll spend a lot of time in flashbacks or [on] Force ghosts or things like that, but certainly, the spirit of what he represents to [Rey] is going to be significant,” she told IGN in a recent interview.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
