Marvel Removes 2 Pre-Avengers 5 Movies

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made some big changes to Phase 6, with Marvel Studios removing two movies that were set to debut before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty comes around. Marvel has delayed quite a few movies and TV shows in the near past, with the studio’s slate constantly shifting around due to both feedback on recent controversial releases and outside factors, such as the ongoing Writer’s Guild of America strike.

Disney has just confirmed new studio-wide release date changes, revealing that an untitled Marvel movie set to be released on July 25, 2025, and another one dated for November 7, 2025, have been replaced by two untitled Disney movies, thus reducing the MCU’s Phase 6. Disney’s Marvel movies delays also affect several films that were already announced. Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Blade, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars were all delayed. Deadpool 3 was the only MCU film to get moved up by the release date changes.

What The Two Removed Secret MCU Movies Could Be About?

The two Marvel movies that were removed from the schedule would have premiered before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘s new May 1, 2026, release date, but after its original May 2, 2025, release date. That could have played a role in what story they were going to be telling, as the films could have delved deeper into the multiverse, continuing plot points brought forward by the Council of Kangs’ fight with the Avengers. Another option is that the films would have built upon other MCU movies that would have released up to the next Avengers film.

There are a number of MCU projects rumored to be in different stages of development. One possible movie that could have taken up one of those dates is the officially announced Armor Wars, which stars Don Cheadle as James Rhodes — War Machine — and was initially conceived as a Disney+ series before moving to a feature to allow the expansive scope of the story to be realized as envisioned. Another possible candidate is the heavily rumored World War Hulk film, which is said to follow the Hulk-centric plot of the recently-retitled Captain America: Brave New World.

Two Marvel teams could have made their debut in the replaced Marvel movie slots. The rumored Midnight Suns movie could have brought Marvel’s supernatural team to the big screen. The MCU has been building its supernatural corner, with Werewolf by Night opening up a new chapter for Marvel. Another possible candidate to have been one of the MCU movies is the rumored Young Avengers project. Given how Marvel has been introducing younger heroes, it is only a matter of time before the Young Avengers debut, and the team could form in the aftermath of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to help Earth’s Mightiest Heroes keep the MCU safe.
