Indiana Jones 5 producer confirms time travel theory

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny‘s producer has shared that there is a keyword in the new film’s title that helps “drive” the flicks narrative.
It has been 15 years since the last film in the franchise, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, hit cinema screens, and fans wish they had the Dial of Destiny to fast forward until June 30 when the fifth and final instalment featuring Harrison Ford at the helm lands.
Speaking to SFX, producer Frank Marshall shared the importance of time in the new outing.
“The Dial of Destiny is perfect for us because it’s about time,” he said.

“It’s math and time. We always try and have some sort of archaeological connection, and there was certainly that – there’s a mythology to the Dial of Destiny that exists. It turned out to be the perfect thing for this movie.”
The idea of time travel gives the film a nod to the sci-fi genre, and when asked if the film was going full-on sci-fi, he told the publication: “Well, yes and no.
“It works in the plot because it is scientific. Well, I guess it’s scientific! It really works for what we are doing, and it sets up a whole lot of great plot points. The question is, if you can control time, like in Back to the Future, would you change things? And what would that mean? That’s a big question for everybody, and certainly is in the movie.”

This film will see Ford as Indiana Jones working with his goddaughter, Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), as they face off against Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), a former Nazi who now works for NASA, in the race to find the dial that can change the trajectory of history.
Marshall added: “It’s a plot point that drives the story.
“The character wants to go back and change time, change what happened, and obviously, it turns out to be in Nazi Germany. The Nazis are kind of a thread we’ve had through all of the movies. I think it definitely works this time.”
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is released in UK cinemas on June 28 and in US cinemas on June 30.
