Production is thought to be underway on Deadpool 3 in the UK, and Hugh Jackman has clearly landed in the country and is ready to kick ass as Wolverine all over again.
The actor bid what appeared to be a final farewell to the role in 2017’s Logan, but was talked into returning by Marvel Studios and Ryan Reynolds. The expectation now is that Wolverine will be a big part of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, likely appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars at the very least.
Before we get to that, however, we have this team-up to look forward to.
Jackman is rocking an impressive Old Man Logan-style beard in this new photo, but will this be the movie that sees the actor finally don the clawed mutant’s trademark yellow and blue costume? This is probably the best shot we’ve got of it happening, though we’re not sure how its introduction could be explained at this stage.
Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all also set to return. Will Josh Brolin get in on the fun as Cable? That remains to be seen, though it doesn’t sound like Domino will be part of the threequel.
Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen have both signed up as mystery characters. Loki star Owen Wilson is rumoured to appear as Mobius in what’s expected to be a Multiversal adventure, but that hasn’t been confirmed or reported by the trades as of yet.
Most of us had expected Marvel Studios to either reboot Deadpool or bring him into the MCU as quickly as possible. Instead, the movie will take us back to Fox’s X-Men Universe, hence why Jackman is returning alongside other original cast members (Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, and James Marsden are all rumoured to appear).
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on November 8, 2024.
