Agents of SHIELD Star Hasn’t Heard From Marvel About a Quake Return

Written by on May 30, 2023

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Chloe Bennet insists that, as far as she is aware, there are currently no plans for her to reprise her role fan-favorite role of Daisy Johnson/Quake in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Bennet was asked if she was still interested in reprising her role as Quake should Marvel Studios give her a call. “Of course. Of course, I would be open to it,” she said. “Listen, there’s a lot of stuff around that. I so deeply love S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s fans because it’s this tenacity that got the show on air to begin with. I have not once been approached or asked or involved in anything after I wrapped S.H.I.E.L.D.. And I am not involved in anything that is coming out. I’ve not been asked, but I would be more than excited to put on the suit again. And, of course, of course, Daisy is a big part of who I am. So I would love to, but I have not been communicated [with] about it.”

Quake’s Marvel History

Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Gabriele Dell’Otto, Daisy Johnson/Quake first appeared in 2004’s Secret War #2. Bennet debuted as a live-action version of the character in the MCU-adjacent television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which premiered on ABC in 2013. Bennet’s character was initially introduced as a computer hacker named Skye, though was later revealed to actually be Daisy Johnson. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Quake was portrayed as an Inhuman, an aspect of the character that would eventually be canonized in Marvel’s comic book universe.

In addition to starring as Quake in all seven seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Bennet also played the character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot, a spinoff webseries that ran for six episodes on ABC.com in 2016. The has also voiced Quake in a number of animated projects belonging to Disney’s Marvel Rising franchise. Nevertheless, Bennet’s final appearance as Quake to date came in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s series finale, which aired on ABC in August 2020.

Quake’s Rumored MCU Return

Quake’s potential on-screen return has been a hot topic of discussion as of late, owing to unconfirmed rumors that Bennet will be reprising the role for Marvel’s Disney+ original series Secret Invasion, which is slated to premiere in less than a month on Wednesday, June 21. These murmurs are unsurprising, given the fact that Quake was a significant player in Marvel Comics’ original “Secret Invasion” storyline from 2008, serving as a member of Nick Fury’s Secret Warriors.

Furthermore, Bennet would not be the first pre-Disney+ Marvel Television star to join the mainstream MCU. Marvel’s Daredevil alums Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio recently reprised their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively, and are expected to have a significant presence in the MCU going forward. Additionally, Marvel’s Inhumans alum Anson Mount reprised his role as Black Bolt in Marvel Studios’ 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, briefly appearing as an alternate-reality version of the Inhuman king. All that being said, Bennet’s MCU return in Secret Invasion remains unconfirmed, and she has denied the rumors on a number of occasions.

In any case, Bennet has certainly kept busy since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wrapped up just under three years ago. She recently starred in both seasons of Peacock and Hulu’s animated series Abominable and the Invisible City, reprising her role as the voice of Yi from the 2019 DreamWorks film Abominable. Bennet was even attached to The CW’s ill-fated live-action Powerpuff Girls reboot. She played Blossom in the unaired pilot, though departed the project prior to its ultimate cancellation. Bennet currently plays Robyn in the third season of FXX’s acclaimed comedy series Dave, which centers on a fictionalized version of real-life rapper Dave “Lil Dicky” Burd.
