Across the Spider-Verse’s Oscar Isaac Wants Pedro Pascal in the Sequel

Written by on June 5, 2023

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star Oscar Isaac hopes to find fellow actor and close friend Pedro Pascal a role in the animated film’s upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Across the Spider-Verse features a noticeably larger voice cast that its 2018 predecessor, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. With that in mind, Isaac was asked during a recent interview with GQ if there was anyone he’d like to see join the fray in trilogy-capper Beyond the Spider-Verse. “I don’t know,” the actor replied. “They’re so brilliant at finding the right person for the right character, but maybe Pedro Pascal. Let’s find something for him. He should be a Spider-Person, like a cranky, old Spider-Person.”

Isaac and Pascal previously shared the screen in the 2019 Netflix film Triple Frontier. Both actors are also notable members of the Star Wars universe. Isaac portrayed Poe Dameron in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy from 2015 to 2019. He also voiced the character for four episodes of the animated series Star Wars Resistance from 2018 to 2019. Meanwhile, Pascal stars as Din “Mando” Djarin on Disney+’s live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian, which recently wrapped up its third season. Pascal also played Mando in the spinoff limited series The Book of Boba Fett, which ran on Disney+ from late 2021 to early 2022.

Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal’s Comic Book Roles

In the newly released Across the Spider-Verse, Isaac reprises his role as the voice of Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099. He originally voiced the character in the post-credits scene of 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse. That said, Miguel was not Isaac’s first Marvel role, nor was it his last. The actor previously portrayed En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse in 20th Century Fox’s 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse. Then, in 2022, Isaac joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the title character of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ original series Moon Knight.

In contrast, Pascal has yet to join the Marvel multiverse. However, the Mandalorian star is certainly no stranger to superhero projects. For starters, Pascal portrayed Ed Indelicato in NBC’s unaired Wonder Woman pilot from 2011, which coincidentally starred Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Adrianne Palicki in the title role. Pascal later joined the DC Extended Universe in the 2020 feature film Wonder Woman 1984, in which he played main antagonist Max Lord. While not exactly a superhero story, Pascal also appeared in the 2017 spy film Kingsman: The Golden Circle, based on the Kingsman comic books by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is in theaters now. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is scheduled to premiere on March 29, 2024.
