Disney is releasing 28 fully restored animated shorts, including several character debuts, in celebration of its 100th anniversary. After being founded back in October of 1923, Disney is now one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. While the company may now be synonymous with big franchises like Star Wars and the MCU, the company has a decades-long history of ground-breaking animated content with characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and a host of others.

Highlights Of The Upcoming Disney Animated Shorts Release

Each of the shorts listed above is a classic in its own right, but a number of them feature especially exciting characters, jokes, or storylines. A handful of shorts in the second batch to be released focus on Donald Duck, with “Donald’s Cousin Gus” actually serving as the introduction of Gus Goose. With Gus proving to be particularly hungry and disruptive, the short follows Donald as he resorts to extreme measures to get his unwanted cousin to leave.

The third batch of shorts to be released includes “Trolley Troubles”, which marked the launch of Disney’s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon series. “Bone Trouble,” similarly, served as the first official entry in the Pluto series of cartoons. Another highlight from the September grouping of shorts is “The Barn Dance,” which sees Mickey and Pete compete to be Minnie Mouse’s dance partner.

The October batch of shorts also includes several fun inclusions, with “Camping Out” seeing Mickey, Minnie, Clarabelle Cow, and Horace Horsecollar fighting an army of stinging pests when their journey into the wilderness goes awry. “Chips Ahoy” features the beloved duo of Chip and Dale as they attempt to cross a lake to get to Donald Duck’s acorn-laden tree. The other shorts all include memorable moments from Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and others, and the restoring of these classic Disney shorts seems like a great way to celebrate the company’s storied history in the medium of animation.
