Fans discuss Jessica’s alleged blacklist from all Korean broadcast channels and shows

Throughout the years, the K-pop and K-entertainment industry has witnessed their fair share of controversies and rumors, often sparking intense debates and discussions among Korean netizens. 

One such topic that has recently been creating a buzz in popular Korean online communities is the alleged blacklisting of former Girls’ Generation member Jessica on Korean broadcast channels and shows.

In 2014, SM Entertainment announced Jessica’s sudden departure from the group, bringing much sadness and shock to fans. The shock further grew when Jessica made a personal statement that she was unilaterally dropped from the girl group.

Since Jessica left SM Entertainment, it was difficult to see her on any music programs or Korean television shows, which sparked rumors that she has been blacklisted since leaving the agency. This rumor surfaced again as many Korean netizens are wondering why Jessica is no longer seen even on cable channels, and she is seen more frequently on Chinese shows.

One fan began the discussion in a post titled “Jessica can’t appear on cable either?” and wrote, “I haven’t seen (her) in any of the shows on there (cable).”

Korean netizens joined the discussion and shared their opinions on the matter. They commented, “She can’t appear on music programs,” “Yeah, that’s why she’s promoting overseas,” “I’ve never seen her appear,” “I think she had a schedule to appear on a radio show before but that got canceled at the last minute,” “Yeah, she was edited out completely on a variety show,” “That’s why she’s going to China to promote,” “This is so true,” “I know her radio show appearance got canceled last minute too,” “She can’t come on cable shows either,” “This is too much,” and “I still don’t know why she’s so hated.
