BTOB has become a hot topic in Korean online communities after releasing a special short video for their fans!
On May 29 KST, the CUBE Entertainment boy group released a video titled ‘For MELODY #IAM’ through their official YouTube channel. In the clip, member Peniel enters the group’s practice room to find that all the lights are off, asking to himself, “Am I the first one to get to the practice room today?” However, he then lets out a comical “What the–” when he sees the other BTOB members lit up similarly to Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Yet instead of Queen, the members begin singing an a capella version of IVE’s hit single “I AM,” giving it almost an operatic flair with their five-part harmony.
The video clip became a hit not only with BTOB’s fandom MELODY, but it was also shared through various online communities, where netizens were impressed with their creative take on the song as well as their smooth live vocals. One poster who shared the video wrote, “BTOB’s IVE ‘I AM’ a capella cover that definitely doesn’t seem normal. Is this a comedy group that can sing well? Hahahaha This is freaking funny, but it’s so good hahahaha.”
Fans also rushed to the YouTube video, leaving comments like, “I’m going to think of this video every time I hear this song… It’s really crazy. BTOB’s vocals are one of the reasons why MELODY can speak so proudly of BTOB,” “An ‘I AM’ a capella by BTOB? This is so precious,” “BTOB’s form is crazy… Their a capella quality is legendary…,” and “BTOB is a whole genre on its own.”
