Stop if you have heard this before: Scottie Scheffler enters the weekend of a PGA Tour event with a chance to win. After squandering an opportunity to raise a trophy in his backyard a season ago, the world No. 1 is at it again as he looks to win for the third time this year at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Scheffler is once again tee to greening a golf course into submission with Colonial Country Club being this week’s victim. Standing at 6 under, the Dallas-area resident is in the mix but will need to usurp 18- and 36-hole leader Harry Hall.
The Englishman has been brilliant through two rounds as he followed up a scorching 8-under 62 with a 4-under 66 on Friday. Hall sits at 12 under and three clear of a chasing pack that includes not only Scheffler but Harris English (-9) and Emiliano Grillo (-8). Searching for his first career victory on the PGA Tour, the 25-year-old will need to continue to keep his foot on the gas during what is sure to be an exciting Moving Day in Fort Worth, Texas.
