Thomas Tuchel's job in doubt if Bayern lose Bundesliga, Hamann claims

Former Germany star Dietmar Hamann has claimed Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel could face the axe if the club fails to win the Bundesliga title this season.

Tuchel, 49, following the removal of  in March and eVdEN eve nAkliYaT has struggled in his short spell at the Allianz Arena to date.

He won his first game in charge – against his former club Borussia Dortmund – but Bayern have since lost top spot to Dortmund, evdEn EVe nAkliyAT as well as crashing out of the Champions League and German Cup.  

Bayern were soundly beaten 3-1 at Mainz on Saturday, with Dortmund leapfrogging them at the summit of the Bundesliga following a 4-0 win over Frankfurt.

Reports in Germany have claimed to decide the futures of Tuchel, CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic amid the club’s recent troubles.

‘I can well imagine them winning the last five games.’

Hamann also believes Tuchel has failed to improve performances at Bayern since he took over from Nagelsmann, who was sacked in March. 

‘I’ve rarely seen a change of coach where things get worse in the short term.That’s exactly what happened at Bayern,’ Hamann said.

Bayern Munich chiefs stormed into the dressing room after the costly defeat against Mainz – in a move reminiscent of Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.

Tuchel’s side capitulated as they conceded three goals in 15 second-half minutes to lose the lead given to them by Sadio Mane’s goal.

After the game, Kahn said: ‘We played a catastrophic second half.Who was the team here that wanted to become German champions? ‘It will be very difficult to become champions with such an appearance.

Asked if he would resign, Kahn responded: ‘My only goal is to bring an end to the season with the league title – and then really attack again in the new season.’

Bayern next face Hertha Berlin on Sunday, when they will look to get their title bid back on track.
