Donald Glover’s Across the Spider-Verse Costume Revealed In BTS Image

Miles Morales is finally back on the big screen as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse officially opened in theaters last week, continuing his animated adventures. After all the hype for the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse didn’t fail to surprise the world with major surprises; one of them was Glover’s massive cameo as Aaron Davis, who had fully become the Marvel villain, the Prowler.
Glover, who appeared as Aaron Davis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Homecoming, had his costume designed by Trayce Gigi Field, who revealed a full look of the suit on Instagram.
In addition to his suit being revealed, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller spoke to Rolling Stone about how the cameo came about, sharing the following:
Lord: Yeah, it was definitely a personal reach-out to Donald, who we love and stayed close with. We reached out and were like, “We thought of something. It will be so easy. And you commit to nothing.” And he was really excited to be part of it. He loved the first movie. He has kids that he wanted to surprise by having dad in the movie.
Miller: And we did a fun little shoot. And we got Trayce Gigi Field, who was the costume designer for the first season of [Miller’s Apple TV+ series] The Afterparty to build a Prowler suit in a matter of weeks. These things often take months or years to build and she really did an amazing job designing and building something really quickly so we could all come together and get him into the film.
Where Donald Glover’s Prowler Could Appear Next In The MCU Or Sony’s Universe
While Prowler is still being held captive by the Spider Society, it’s only a matter of time until the character gets loose and shows up in another Marvel-related project after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The bigger question is where he could appear next, as there are a few alternatives for Glover’s character. To begin with, there is always the chance that he will be back in next year’s follow-up film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
But if Prowler were to show up in a completely different film, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 film, which is in development at Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. That would make a lot of sense, especially if this Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the same one that showed up in Spider-Man: Homecoming. But if they are planning to utilize him further within Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, it would be a neat surprise if Glover had a cameo somehow in Madame Web, which will be partially related to the multiverse.
It would be a bigger shock if Glover’s Prowler was never fully utilized after the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. With his incredible acting abilities and how they have slowly been setting this up since Spider-Man: Homecoming, it would be a shame if Marvel doesn’t embrace the character to his fullest. Following his cameo in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, time will tell where Glover will show up in the future.
