RLJE Films has premiered the trailer for “Sympathy for the Devil,” a new gritty psychological thriller starring Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman.
Joel Kinnaman stars as David, a man driving to a Las Vegas area hospital where his wife is currently in labor. Before he can get out of the car, a mysterious individual clothed in red (Cage) forces his way into David’s car.
Holding him at gunpoint, the mysterious passenger demands he drive to a diner. There the pair find themselves in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where it becomes clear that not everything is as it seems.
The project marks the fourth of five appearances on film Cage will make this year following “The Old Way,” “Renfield,” and a cameo in an upcoming studio blockbuster. Later in the year he’ll have “The Retirement Plan” opening.
“Suicide Squad” and “The Killing” star Kinnaman has most recently been working with John Woo on “Silent Night,” an action film without spoken dialogue which marks Woo’s first American feature in twenty years.
Yuval Adler (“The Secrets We Keep”) helms the film from a script by Luke Paradise (“Lost on a Mountain in Maine”). “Sympathy for the Devil” opens in theaters and on demand on July 28th.
