With great box office comes great responsibility.
As Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse continues to capture fans’ hearts and break box office records, we’ve compiled a list of all the Spider-Man movies, from the lowest-grossing to the highest-grossing of all time.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, $208M
The animation exceeded analyst expectations, grossing more than $208 million worldwide in its first day of release, so the sum will only increase and is not final. In the sequel, Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy attempt to save the multiverse from a new threat.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, $384M
It is the first animated feature film about Spider-Man, proving that the animated format can be a perfect fit for the character.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, $708M
Marc Webb’s sequel is, by all accounts, the most controversial of Spider-Man’s adventures. A three-hour running time, a complete lack of dynamism and plot overload did not allow it to reveal its potential, although the original idea was curious.
The Amazing Spider-Man, $757M
For all the merits of Sam Raimi ‘s trilogy, Tobey Maguire ‘s Peter Parker was never as organic as Andrew Garfield’s one. In Garfield’s case, Spidey has become the pure embodiment of his comic book version. https://youtu.be/-tnxzJ0SSOw
Spider-Man 2, $788M
Considering the sheer number of comic book movies out there today, Spider-Man 2 is still considered one of the best superhero movies out there. For the second movie in the trilogy, Spider-Man 2 played all the right cards.
Spider-Man, $825M
Sam Raimi’s contribution to the rebirth of the superhero genre is truly colossal, but let’s face it, the first Spider-Man was never a brilliant movie. It has too many flaws, from an inexpressive script to the theatrical special effects that cause internal cringe.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, $880M
Unlike the previous Spider-Man movies, the MCU skipped the origin story and the death of Uncle Ben. Instead, it focused on the teenage Peter.
Tom Holland proved to be the perfect casting choice, capturing all of Peter Parker’s awkwardness and boyish charm.
Spider-Man 3, $894M
Spider-Man 3 was supposed to be a huge blockbuster, but ended up being a huge disappointment. Especially for the fans, whose expectations were higher than ever.
The success of the second Spider-Man forced Sam Raimi to jump over his head – the third movie featured three villains at once, none of whom got the attention they deserved.
Spider-Man: Far From Home, $1,1B
This installment is rightly considered one of the best. This is a perfectly balanced movie: not so long that you get bored, but enough time to tell an interesting and touching story about the adventures of high school students in Europe.
Spider-Man: No Way Home, $1,9B
The success of this movie is best measured by the box office and reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a 98% positive rating based on 25,000 reviews from verified users.
In addition to audiences, it has been well received by critics, with a 93% positive score.
