Manoj Bajpayee recalls rejecting ‘The Family Man’ initially, says his wife Shabana thought it was a ‘serial’ | Hindi Movie News

Manoj Bajpayee has to his credit one of the biggest OTT franchises, ‘The Family Man’, whose third part is eagerly awaited. Recently, the actor opened up about how he was not keen on doing it initially.
Casting director Mukesh Chhabra had reached out to the actor stating that Raj and DK wanted to narrate him a series. Manoj Bajpayee revealed his first reaction was that he was not interested because most of these web series are all about ‘sex, violence and thrill’. Even after reassurance from Mukesh, Manoj Bajpayee revealed that he had heard Akshaye Khanna was in talks for this project and since he doesn’t like to take other actor’s work, he will not do it. Manoj Bajpayee told a news portal that he agreed for the narration only after much insistence from Mukesh and assurance that Akshaye was not connected to the show. Manoj revealed he was sold over the idea of ‘The Family Man’ and got glued to it.
Manoj Bajpayee recalled not working for eight months while doing this project, which became an issue with his wife Shabana. He told a news portal, “She thought I was doing some kind of a serial and ask me what is this OTT. I told her that it’s different and she was like, ‘What is the need of money? Why are you ruining your career? Sab accha khasa chal raha hai. Sab khatam kar doge (Everything is going well, why do you want to ruin it). I told her how shows like Narcos have become popular. ‘But eventually it’s a serial only na?’ she would tell me.” Manoj added that his wife didn’t realise the potential of OTT till she saw the first season of ‘The Family Man’.
