Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman replaces every character in a fantastic fan video of The Office.
For many, it’s hard to imagine anybody other than Steve Carrell in the role of the awkwardly charming Michael Scott from The Office. However, a Twitter account with the handle Le Chaunpre recently showcased an interesting alternative, leveraging AI technology to superimpose Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman onto various characters within the Emmy-winning series. The result is downright hilarious, suggesting that if The Office were to make a comeback, Odenkirk’s persona from Better Call Saul could make an excellent new character addition to the cast.
The brief video that sees Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman superimposed on characters from The Office was uploaded on May 31 and has garnered significant attention. Within a short span, it has accumulated nearly 10,000 views. Furthermore, users are taking to the comments to tag Odenkirk’s official Twitter account, hoping to catch the attention of the 60-year-old actor.
It’s worth mentioning that although Bob Odenkirk’s never played Saul Goodman on the long-running comedy series, he did pop up in a hysterical cameo in Episode 16 of Season 9. In the episode titled “Moving On,” Odenkirk plays a manager of a real estate firm that Pam (Jenna Fisher) interviews for. Interestingly, his character Mark shares an uncanny resemblance to Michael Scott, with his propensity to tease his employees and his embarrassingly humorous antics.
Bob Odenkirk’s long tenure as Saul Goodman began on Breaking Bad in the eighth episode of the show’s second season. Goodman is a criminal lawyer known for bending the rules and using clever tricks to help his clients. Even though the character navigates dangerous situations, he provides comic relief in the otherwise serious narrative.
Between 2009 and 2013, Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman made his mark in 43 episodes of Breaking Bad. Saul’s journey on the show concluded in Season 5, Episode 15, where he gets a new identity at a vacuum repair shop. Shortly after, he embarks on a fresh start in Nebraska.
Better Call Saul made its debut in February 2015, and, naturally, it saw the return of Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman, this time under his birth name, Jimmy McGill. The critically acclaimed series serves as a prequel to Breaking Bad, offering viewers a deeper look into the character’s transformation into the morally ambiguous Saul Goodman. It begins by illustrating his early struggles as a low-paid public defender, then gradually unveils how his desire to be more than just a small-time lawyer leads to his descent into the darker realm of criminal law.
Bob Odenkirk’s portrayal of Saul Goodman in the series earned him five Emmy Award nominations, along with a host of other awards, such as a Critics Choice Award and a Satellite Award. Better Call Saul ran for six seasons between 2015 and 2022. The series concluded with the fittingly named episode “Saul Gone”.
Following his extensive stint as Saul Goodman, Bob Odenkirk has remained active in the acting realm, landing roles in a variety of films and television shows. Currently, he headlines the TV series Lucky Hank, which sees a professor at a financially strapped college precariously balanced between a midlife crisis and a total breakdown. The show’s inaugural season wrapped up last month, and as of now, there’s no official confirmation regarding its renewal.
