The Flash star Sasha Calle’s Supergirl has received approval from another Kryptonian ahead of the movie’s release.
Calle plays Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, in the upcoming speedster film which races into cinemas on June 16. Fans of DC will know the character as Clark Kent’s cousin and Calle has revealed that she got Superman Henry Cavill’s blessing when taking on the role.
Although the pair do not share the big screen, she told Entertainment Weekly: “Yes, I met him.”
On meeting the veteran Kryptonian, she added: “I met him actually after the movie was done, months later. I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.”

She continued: “I asked him: ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?’ “And he was like: ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.”
The Flash movie has been widely anticipated, and based on the first reactions it is tipped to be “among the best superhero films ever made”.
Ezra Miller returns as Barry Allen, having appeared in the 2017 Justice League team-up, and in an attempt to save his parents, he utilises the Speed Force to run back in time.
However, things go from bad to worse as his noble journey changes reality and creates a multiverse with new variants of previous characters and the lack of some other well-known players.

One positive for DCU fans of this potential world-ending situation is that it reintroduces them to Michael Keaton’s Batman as well as Ben Affleck’s portrayal and brings back Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.
Although, as well as these fan-favourite characters, it also brings about the potential domination of the world as Michael Shannon returns as Man of Steel’s General Zod.
Fans will also know that Cavill’s time wearing a cape is over as he is not returning to the DCU in its new era, after initially announcing his return last year.
“The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that,” Cavill said on Instagram. “James [Gunn] and Peter [Safran] have a universe to build. I wish them, and all involved with the new universe, the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”
The Flash is released in cinemas on June 16.
