Aamir Khan says he will do a film when he is ’emotionally ready’; asks Kapil Sharma when he will invite him on his show

At the event, Aamir addressed a question about his next project as after Laal Singh Chadha, he has not announced a film. Responding to this question, he said, “I haven’t signed any film yet. I just want to spend time with my family and I am doing just that. When I am emotionally ready to do a film, I will definitely do it.”

The actor was also asked why Bollywood stars don’t do Punjabi films anymore citing examples of how Shatrughan Sinha, Sunil Dutt, Raj Kapoor have appeared in Punjabi films. On this, Aamir said, “For me, if the story is good, I’d do it. If it is in a different language and if I love it, then I’ll learn the language and do it.”

He added, “Stars back then, like Yusuf sahab (Dilip Kumar) his first language was Punjabi. Raj Kapoor too spoke in Punjabi, so it was natural for them to do Punjabi films. For us it would be a little bit of effort. For example, Punjabi is not my first language, but I would love to do it.” He then turned to Carry On Jatta 3 director Smeep Kang and said, “If you have a good film, please tell me. I have done Andaaz Apna Apna also. I am interested in doing comedy.”

Along with Aamir Khan, comedian and actor Kapil Sharma was also present at the trailer launch of Carry on Jatta 3. Aamir also shared how he has become Kapil’s fan in the last few months as he watches his show The Kapil Sharma Show on TV before he goes to bed every night. He shared, “I am doing less work these days and spending more time with my family. So, I enjoy watching comedy in the evening. I watch something funny before I go to sleep. Since last few months I’ve been watching The Kapil Sharma Show and I have become his (Kapil Sharma) fan. I called him a few weeks ago to thank him for the entertainment through his show and making people laugh. It is a big thing to make people laugh. Thank you, Kapil.”

Aamir then put Kapil on the spot and asked him why he was never invited him on The Kapil Sharma Show. He said, “It is wrong how you have never called me on your show. Before he asks me, I ask him this.”

Kapil replied, “It will be our good fortune the day you come on our show. Whenever I have met Aamir bhai, I have met him in a crowd. I have requested Aamir bhai many times but he’s said he was going somewhere and that we should talk after he returns and we end up meeting after three years. So it will be great if he comes on the show.”

Aamir added, “You always call me during my movie promotions. I don’t want to come for that. I want to come to entertain.”

Aamir Khan then shared why he agreed to attend the trailer launch of Carry On Jatta 3. He said, “Gippy is like family to me. He messaged me (to invite) and I asked him the date. I loved the trailer. I watch very few films. I read more books.”

The actor-filmmaker confessed that while he has not watched either Carry On Jatta 1 or 2, he found the trailer of the third installment in the franchise very entertaining. He said, “Now when I watched the trailer I told him (Gippy Grewal) why 1 and 2 were hits. This trailer gave me so much entertainment that I felt that I wanted to watch the film. I feel the movie will be a superhit, and it is a good thing that you are attempting to make such an entertaining film a pan-India movie so that people all over the country can watch it.”

Carry On Jatta 3 will release in theatres on June 29.
