Britain’s Got Talent’s Ant McPartlin takes a tumble minutes into live show

The live semi-finals for Britain’s Got Talent got off to an entertaining start, with host Ant McPartlin slipping as he introduced the show with Declan Donnelly.

The live shows kicked off tonight (May 29) as the first batch of acts sought to make their way to the final, with the judges and hosting duo making a grand entrance alongside guest stars Diversity.

As the group took to the stage, Ant took a tumble as he slipped on the floor. The presenter was left red-faced at the blunder as Ashley Banjo helped him up.

As Declan attempted to present through the laughter, Ant remarked: “I don’t know if I am okay – I think I wet myself and farted at the same time.” The jokes continued, with Dec confirming that “he did indeed fart.”

As the pair made their way to the judging panel, Dec joked that Ant needed to “mind his step”, with Amanda Holden asking if his coccyx was okay before Alesha Dixon remarked that she wanted to rewind the clip repeatedly when she got home. Simon Cowell congratulated Ant for his spectacular entrance, joking that it was the best in the show’s history.

Following the first advertisement break, Dec took great pleasure in watching a slow-motion replay of the fall on the big screen. They weren’t the only ones to find the moment amusing.

Several people took to Twitter to share their amusement at the gaffe. “How many times will Ants fall be on blooper shows over the next few years?! That was a sore one #BGT #BritainsGotTalent @antanddec @BGT,” remarked one user, whilst several others wrote, “Ant & Dec’d it.”

The first semi-final saw eight acts compete for a place in the final, with the remainder of the semi-finals due to air each night until Friday (June 2) ahead of Sunday’s final.

Britain’s Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
