Killer Mike has released a new single featuring thankugoodsir and his Run the Jewels partner El-P. Titled “Don’t Let the Devil,” the track dropped on Mike’s 48th birthday and will appear on his newly announced album, Michael, set to release on June 16.
“[Run the Jewels] is the X-Men. This is my Logan,” Mike tells Rolling Stone. “It’s our 10-year anniversary, and Michael is an origin story, so I wanted to start with El.”
When promoting “Don’t Let the Devil” on Instagram, he said, “I wanted to time travel and tell 12-year-old #MICHAEL that he dropped a [fire] song with his rap potna El-P and had some dope Nike SB collabs on his born-day, plus he had a party. Life is great, kid. Stay focused and Don’t Let The Devil coerce ya!”
Mike was referring to the Nike SB Dunk High sneakers that dropped April 20, in collaboration with his group Run the Jewels.
As reported, Killer Mike held a listening party in New York City, where he previewed the track “Scientists & Engineers” featuring Future and André 3000. Per HipHopDX, Lil Wayne and Dave Chappelle also make appearances on Michael.
