Replacing The Flatbed Scanner On The Hewlett-Packard

Written by on August 23, 2022

To pull the flatbed scanner out, you’ll need to first take off the automatic document feeder (ADF) unit. To avoid damaging the ADF cable, do not attempt to raise or move the device by its cable while removing the ADF. Once it’s been taken out, set it down on a smooth, level surface.

1) Disconnect the printer from its power source and turn off the printer.

The automatic document feeder (ADF) connection connects the ADF to the scanner control board, which may be seen by turning the printer around so that the rear is facing you. The scanner’s control board may be accessed by removing two screws from the lid. A grounding screw may be accessed once the lid is taken off. At this point, you may separate the two wires. Please take careful note of the cable’s routing via the cable holder and into the scanner bed before attempting to remove the cable.

Third, raise the automatic document feeder (ADF) off the scanner’s flatbed as if you were making a copy. The automatic document feeder (ADF) unit is tuned to the specific scanner it is attached to. To use the ADF with a different flatbed scanner, you’ll need to calibrate it to work with the original ADF.

Step 4: Raise the scanning unit vertically. The front edge flange may be detached while facing the front of the printer. Snap off this panel that spans the front of the flatbed.

The scanner carriage lock cover is secured by two screws that need to be removed from the top left corner of the flatbed, near where the paper exits.

6)Turn the best laser printers so that the back is facing you, then unscrew the right-hand scanner lid.

The seventh step is to shut the top cover and take out the two screws from the top that secure the left scanner cover. Keep these two screws from going missing by using a magnetic screwdriver. Close to the back of this cover is a spring that is free to move around. Carefully remove the cover without dropping the spring.

8). A metal plate with a number of holes in it will now be revealed. There are three screws that need to be taken out, and these screws are located in the three largest holes.

Remove one FFC (flat flexible cable) and the connection to its left on the scanner control board, with the back of the printer facing you.

Slide the scanner to the right as you face the front of the printer, and then raise it up and away from the machine. WARNING: Before removing the scanner assembly, make sure the scanner latch is not released. When the scanner assembly is not in place, the platform supporting it is made of sheet metal, and if the platform is elevated, the gas shocks that hold it in place might cause damage to the metal.

The scanner should be reinstalled such that the mark on the scanner assembly corresponds with the mark on the control panel. Now that the scanner component is properly positioned on the sheet metal platform, push it toward the MFP’s left side until it locks into place.
