Written by on May 26, 2023

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Saudi Arabia launched an electronic visa or e-visa for purposes of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage, residence permits, and visits to the country for Indonesian citizens.

“The replacement of the sticker visa to an electronic visa is in accordance with the instructions of the Saudi Arabia Kingdom,” Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi said at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Jakarta, Thursday, May 25, 2023, as reported by Antara.

“The implementation of e-visa in Indonesia has started today,” Faisal added.

He explained that the program is the directive of the Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and is in line with Saudi’s 2030 Vision.

The issuance of electronic visas, he continued, aims at improving consular services in Saudi and providing easy facilities for those who wish to take advantage of the program, including Indonesians.

The advantage of the program is that visa applications can be made via email. “With such a system, thank God, the authorities can issue around 25,000 Hajj visas per day and this is progress,” Faisal said.

Saudi Arabia has introduced the e-visa program in several countries. This year, the program is launched in seven countries, including Indonesia.

Faisal also said that the implementation of the e-visa program in Indonesia reflected Saudi Arabia’s concern and commitment to keep strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
