Ahead of the series finale of How to Get Away With Murder, series star Rome Flynn is opening up about the show’s “bittersweet” end.
Flynn, who has played the ambitious law student student Gabriel Maddox for two seasons, tells ABC Audio that he’s not sure if tonight’s episode will give fans the perfect ending.
“I don’t think that fans will be satisfied only because it’s bittersweet,” Flynn says. “You always feel like you wish you had more time. I think that’s the commonality with things that we really cherish most in our lives. I wish we had more time with them.”
According to Flynn, time wasn’t on his side when it came to his character’s story line.
“What I would have liked,” he explains, “[Is] more in-depth kind of investigation into [the] character development between him and other characters. I would have loved that.”
“But we just didn’t have time,” he continues. “And so with the amount of time that we had, I think we told a story and we were able to kind of put an ending on it.”
However, if given more episodes — or even an extra season — Flynn says he knows exactly what he’d like to see happen to his character.
“I wish I had more time with Gabriel to really uncover a lot of different things that we really didn’t get a chance to get to,” he says.
Now, going into the last episode, Flynn says he’s just excited to see how it all ends.
“Honestly, I haven’t seen this last episode yet,” he reveals. “So I’m watching this last one with everybody else to see what happens.”
The series finale of How to Get Away with Murder airs tonight at 10 pm. ET on ABC.
