Netflix has acquired the rights to Lil Rel’s hidden-camera prank comedy Bad Trip, which was originally set to hit theaters in October.
Rel shared the news on Instagram, posting the Variety story. “We will have a premiere date soon,” he promises. “But finally ‘Bad Trip’ is coming to Netflix. This prank movie is hysterical and can’t wait for all of you to see it. Let’s Go!!!!”
Bad Trip, co-starring Eric Andre, follows Howery and André as two best friends on a cross-country road trip, playing pranks that include a real-life audience’s involvement.
Created by Jackass producer Jeff Tremaine, the comedy also stars Tiffany Haddish and Michaela Conlin. It is the first “hidden-camera narrative film” released since Paramount’s 2013 Bad Grandpa.
In other news, Billy Porter is giving horror fans a run for their money. In the new trailer for season two of The Twilight Zone, Porter parts a beaded curtain, asking the viewer: “Do you know who you are?”
He then asks, “Do you want to find out?”
Hosted and narrated by Jordan Peele, the second Twilight Zone season will feature an-all star cast including Morena Baccarin, Kylie Bunbury, Jenna Elfman, Topher Grace, Tony Hale, Joel McHale, Chris Meloni, Paula Newsome, Jurnee Smollett, Damon Wayans Jr. and more.
The original Twilight Zone aired on CBS from 1959 to 1964. The award-winning anthology series used science fiction, fantasy and horror stories to explore social issues of the day. There was also a 1983 Twilight Zone movie produced by Steven Spielberg, as well as two other short-lived TV reboots. The most recent, in 2002, was hosted by another Oscar-winner, Forest Whitaker.
The new season of The Twilight Zone hits CBS All Access on June 25.
